Spring feed barley

Spring barley is self-compatible to a limited extent. Cultivation is possible on light soils and also at higher altitudes. As with all other spring crops, sowing as early as possible promises higher and more reliable yields. Due to its weak root system, however, spring barley is very sensitive to soil compaction and waterlogging. Seedbed condition therefore definitely comes before sowing date.

Our last large spring feed barley for the broad European market was SALOME from NORDSAAT, which is primarily used for feed but is also suitable for brewing. The somewhat younger variety BENTE with its high and stable yields in many European countries, very good stability and balanced health is another convincing variety for the European feed barley market.
