Indo-German Science and Technologie Centre (IGSTC)

In the frame of this BMBF funded program SUBIO cooperates sice December 2010 with the Leibniz Inst. of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research, Department of Molecular Genetics and working group (Ag) is Stress Genomics (Nese Sreenivasulu), Gatersleben (Germany), and Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd (Secunderabad, India), International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (New Delhi, India).

The project aims at improved tolerance to drought alone or combination of drought and heat stresses by manipulating ABA signaling events to improve photosynthesis and seed set under drought/heat stress and simultaneously to tackle secondary effects such as stress-mediated cell death by creating efficient scavenging system of ROIs (Reactive Oxygen Intermediates) under combination of heat and drought stress through gene pyramiding approach. To reach this goal genetic engineering based gene pyramiding approach has been selected within the potential frame work of 'Biotechnology' of this call.
